Warm Leatherette
A five day collaboration between Myself, Yuri Suzuki, Bogosi Sekhukuni and Neo Mahlasela.
Yuri and I created instruments from technology readily found in the streets of downtown Johannesburg.
These instruments where used by Bogosi Sekhukuni and Neo Mahlasela to create a soundtrack and video piece entitled ‘Warm Leatherette’ which accompanied the instruments in the final installation of the same name.
The finished works were exhibited in the Kalashnikov gallery over the A MAZE festival weekend and the British Council’s Blurring the Lines Exhibition in London.
The project was commissioned by onedotzero and is part of SA-UK Seasons 2014 & 2015 which is partnership between the Department of Arts & Culture, South Africa and the British Council.
